Feb 26 – Mar 1

At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) showcased our progress across numerous project groups working to design, build, trial, and deploy new technologies that will help operators build faster, more affordable, and more resilient networks.

We shared updates illustrating the growing and expanding scope of the TIP community to address new challenges. First, we announced the addition of three new project groups to TIP: Crowd CellPower and Connectivity , and Disaggregated Cell Site Gateways (a new Vodafone – and Facebook-led subgroup of the Open Optical & Packet Transport group.

We also announced a new TIP Community Lab near BT’s Adastral Park campus in the UK, and at the new TIP Ecosystem Acceleration Center in Germany, more than €100 million in venture capital funding has been soft-circled for infrastructure-focused startups.

In addition, we welcomed some of TIP’s newest members: China Unicom, Sprint, and Telenor. They join more than 500 companies around the world that are active within TIP.
