For the third year in a row, the Telecom Infra Project will be attending MWC in Barcelona. We can’t wait to take part in the activity, host sessions and events for our members, TEAC startups, and partners. If you’re joining us in Barcelona as a TIP Member or advocate of our community, read our guide below to see what’s happening at MWC 2019 for Telecom Infra Project and where you can expect to see TIP technologies. TIP Wi-Fi panel – developing the Wi-Fi ecosystem

An inaugural Telecom Infra Project Wi-Fi panel session where we will discuss the most pressing challenges facing the Wi-Fi ecosystem to date as well as to brainstorm the path forward.

Disaggregated Cell Site Gateways (DSCG) RFI results announcement

Edge Application Developer project group session

Edge Application Developer project group members are invited for an opportunity to learn more about the group goals and roadmap for this year. The session will also include important announcements about the TIP Community Lab and how to involve developers with initiatives planned for the upcoming months. mmWave fireside chat 

Location: Deutsche Telekom Booth; Main Stage
Time: 3:15 – 3:45 PM
By innovating within the collaborative Telecom Infra Project ecosystem, telcos can more quickly achieve fast, flexible, and cost-efficient roll-outs of fiber-like speeds. Deutsche Telekom SVP Alex Choi and Facebook Connectivity Vice President Dan Rabinovitsj will discuss the advantages of this new, open approach – directly citing the successful results of FWA virtual fiber field trials in Hungary using unlicensed mmWave frequencies.

TIP RAN Birds of a Feather meeting

Telecom Infra Project’s end-to-end demo

Times: Monday, Feb. 25 – Thursday, Feb. 28
Location: Facebook Event Space. Hall 2.1. Invite-Only.
The TIP Team is excited to launch the End-to-End Demo highlighting the interoperability of TIP technologies at MWC this year. This demo will show TIP Project Groups – OpenRAN, VRAN Fronthaul, Edge Computing, Disaggregated Cell Site Gateways (DCSG), Open Optical with Cassini, Crowdcell, and OpenCellular — working together in an integrated network. If you are in the private Facebook event space during MWC, visit the TIP Booth to see it in action.

Open RAN & Edge Computing demo

Times: Monday, Feb. 25 – Wednesday, Feb. 27 (All day)
Location: Telefonica Booth, Hall 3 Stand 3K31
Telefonica is showcasing an Open Access demo that includes the Open RAN architecture co-designed at TIP. This virtualized RAN is a distributed solution that uses two different vendors for the RU software and another two for the vDU/vCU piece, running over general purpose whiteboxes. The demo is complemented by a TIP-tested Edge Computing subsystem that connects seamlessly with the mobile and fixed access modules.

TEAC startup exhibitions 

Times: Monday, Feb. 25 – Wednesday, Feb. 27 (All day)
Location: 4YFN in Fira Montjuic. Startup Exhibitions: Hall P8; Stands M4 & N4. TIP/TEAC Lounge: Hall P8; Stand 40
This year at MWC, TEAC startups from around the world will be exhibiting at the startup-focused 4YFN. The three-day event will feature start-up innovations, investors, and networking activities. Participating TEAC companies include: Airhop Communications, DevStack, Pharrowtech, Tethir, BISDN, Network Defines, Accelleran, Airrays, Amarisoft, Adipsys, Athonet, KETS Quantum Security, and Transcelestial. Channel Sounder II demo 

Times: Monday, Feb. 25 – Wednesday, Feb. 27
Location: Private Event Space. Invite-Only.
TIP’s mmWave PG 60 GHz measurement equipment distributed to select Universities, Institutes and firms in the PG for analyzing street level performance. The demo will showcase real-time sounding capabilities and characterization of transmission and reflection effects. If you are in the private Facebook event space during MWC, visit the TIP Booth to see it in action.

Disaggregated Cell Site Gateways (DCSG) demo

Times: Monday, Feb. 25 – Wednesday, Feb. 27 (All day)
Location: Vodafone Booth, Hall 3 Stand 3D30
This demo showcases the first DCSG prototypes running 2 different SWs from 2 SW vendors (demonstrating HW and SW disaggregation). The DSCGs will simulate a typical access transmission scenario based on 10G interfaces.

DCSG demo 

Location: Infinera Booth, Hall 2, Stand 2I30
Infinera will display DCSG running the CNOS software. Furthermore, DCSG will be integrated on an E2E demo with Infinera portfolio managed by their Transcend SDN Controller.

DSCG demo

Location: EdgeCore Booth, Hall 5 Stand 5A61
This stand demonstrates the prototypes and HW architecture.

DCSG demo

Location: Adva Booth, Hall 7 Stand 7H31
DCSG will be part of an end-to-end demo with other Adva’s routing products showing full interoperability with traditional solutions.

E2ENS mobile gaming demo

Location: EXFO booth, Hall 6, Stand 6K34
This demo is based on a use case currently being tested in the BT TIP Community Lab. It demonstrates network slice automation, assurance, and monitoring for mobile gaming applications. Visit the demo at the EXFO Booth in Hall 6!

MobileEdgeX demo

Location: DT booth, Hall 3, Stand 3M31
Get an insider’s glance to version two of Niantic Neon, a multi-player AR mobile game. You can check out version one on YouTube here.

MobileEdgeX demo

Location: SKT booth, Hall 3, Stand 3H10
At this demonstration you will be able to see a 1000 Realities  headset and AR app for industrial applications. 1000 Realities works with MobiledgeX and uses Cloudlets that have been deployed with the Deutsche Telekom infrastructure in Central Europe to achieve <30ms latency on 4G cellular infrastructure, less than the 33ms required for operation of the application and by doing so demonstrates that this innovative and valuable application could be operated over modern, edge accelerated cellular infrastructure.
