Dell Technologies joins TIP
Telecom Infra Project (TIP) announces that Dell Technologies will be joining the organization, with a focus on how disaggregation across the networking stack will change technical and operational models for enterprise and telecommunications customers. Dell Technologies will collaborate on helping TIP accelerate solutions towards this disaggregation, including projects such as TIP’s Disaggregated Cell Site Gateway (DCSG) family of solutions. The TIP DCSG family of solutions are designed to support the efficient and cost-effective aggregation of mobile and fixed wireless traffic. They are based on an open and disaggregated architecture for existing 2G/3G/4G and future 5G mobile infrastructure.
Dell Technologies is a leading provider of network infrastructure that supports open source Networking Operating Systems (NOS). Dell Technologies is already contributing toward the development of disaggregated, open Network Operating Systems, and the DCSG carrier-class use-cases are ideal for this development and delivery model.
“We are pleased to welcome Dell Technologies to our DCSG open networking ecosystem, which is expanding the scope and value of disaggregation” said Attilio Zani, Executive Director, Telecom Infra Project. “We look forward to collaborating on 5G-ready solutions with Dell that make IP networks more open and more efficient”.
“Dell Technologies is joining TIP as part of our disaggregated wireless ecosystem for evolving mobile infrastructure for 5G,” said Ihab Tarazi, senior vice president and CTO, Networking and Solutions at Dell Technologies. “Dell Technologies’ strategy includes an open NOS that currently supports multiple use-cases. This helps our Enterprise and Service Provider customers to leverage Dell Technologies infrastructure and automation to accelerate their network deployments. We are excited to collaborate with TIP to find ways to extend that model to 5G network deployments.”
The DCSG specification was developed by the Open Optical & Packet Transport (OOPT) Project Group within TIP in collaboration with leading Tier 1 global operators.
